Williams Takes Oath of Office: Affirms Focus on Education Funding, Responsible Budgeting

Marking the start of the 100th General Assembly, state Rep. Ann Williams, D-Chicago, was sworn into office on Wednesday to continue her representation of the Illinois’ 11th House District.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve my community for another term. I am committed to working towards compromise and finding solutions for the serious challenges we face in Illinois,” Williams said.

Williams’ top priorities include continuing to advocate for sustainable funding for neighborhood schools, creating fiscal stability for Illinois while supporting critical human services and paying down our debt, fighting to maintain reproductive health care and protecting our environment by moving towards clean, renewable energy sources.

“Strong schools lead to strong communities, and vice versa,” Williams said. “We need to provide adequate funding for our schools and move away from the crisis-driven budgeting that has become the norm.”

Williams looks forward to continuing to serve her community.

“Every day I am inspired by the constituents I represent and will work hard to be their voice in Springfield,” she said.

The 11th Illinois House District includes the communities of Lincoln Park, West Lakeview, Roscoe Village, Northcenter and Ravenswood. For more information, please call 773-880-9082 or email colleen@repannwilliams.com.
