Williams Appointed to Mass Transit Committee

Chicago legislator looking forward to strengthening our public transit system.

CHICAGO, IL – State Rep. Ann Williams (D-Chicago) was appointed to the Illinois House Mass Transit Committee on Monday, February 6, 2012. Rep. Williams will focus on working to improve our mass transit system to accommodate the needs of all riders in terms of efficiency and safety, as well as ensuring critical infrastructure is maintained and upgraded as necessary.

“My district has a large portion of the CTA Brown Line as well as a Metra line – many of my constituents rely on our mass transit systems every day,” said Rep. Williams. “An efficient, safe, and positive rider experience is critical to the economy of Chicago and Illinois generally, and meeting service goals with limited resources is an ongoing challenge. I look forward to working on behalf of our communities to maintain and improve mass transit not only in Chicago, but throughout Illinois.”

“I was pleased to learn that Illinois State Representative Ann Williams (D-11) has been appointed to the State Legislature’s Mass Transit Committee as a general member and look forward to working closely with her as the Chicago Transit Authority continues to confront the many challenges it faces,” said CTA President Forrest Claypool. “I am confident her voice will be a strong one in support of the future of public transit.”
